U-POL Supports MAMMOTH Charity Drive by Military Charity
U-POL has ensured a team of 12 former soldiers battling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder will embark on a mammoth 7,000-mile expedition in style.
The Northamptonshire-based leading product producer to the vehicle repair industry is providing its highly protective RAPTOR coating for all four vehicles currently being rebuilt by the team to the expedition standards needed to conquer the most arduous of driving conditions.
Organised by the Veterans In Action charity that provides support, help and guidance to our military suffering from PTSD, the overland ‘mission’ will leave London on August 31 before travelling through 14 countries during its round trip to the Greek capital of Athens.
The trek, which has been organised to help motivate and give the soldiers a sense of purpose, will see the team pay their respects at some of Europe’s most iconic historical battlefield sites from both World Wars. The route will also take them through Bosnia and Herzegovina and in particular the cities of Sarajevo and Mostar where some of the men served during the Bosnian War of the mid 1990’s.
U-POL CEO Guy Williams, said: “When we heard that the Veterans In Action had enquired about RAPTOR to protect their vehicles we jumped at the opportunity to help the guys out.”
“What they are trying to achieve is mightily impressive but, the drive, is only part of the challenge they have been working for tirelessly rebuilding their four Land Rovers to ensure they’ll be up for the challenges ahead. Coating them in RAPTOR will not only finish them off spectacularly, crucially it will provide the vehicles with the ultimate protection against everything the trek will throw at them.”
Guy added: “On a personal note, I know I speak for many when I say I have the highest admiration for all our military. What these guys face, both on the battlefield and during their lives after is unimaginable to those of us who haven’t experienced it. Helping them to strive and succeed like this is the least we can do.”
Billy MacLeod, Chief Operations Officer of Veterans In Action said, “The support we have received from U-POL has been fantastic in supplying us with RAPTOR coating and the expertise in painting our vehicles.
“Veterans In Action work to help rebuild veterans confidence, self-esteem and self-belief and for those taking part on our expedition who have worked tirelessly over the last 10 months on these vehicles just to be able to see these vehicles in the finished RAPTOR will be huge and will go a long way in helping them believe that companies such as U-POL really care for our veterans, this goes a long way to help with their recovery process. A huge thank you from Veterans In Action and the whole team from Veterans Expeditions Overland, your support means such a lot to us”.
